Concordia University–Portland:
EdD Welcome Kit
For EdD candidates,we created a slightly more sophisticated welcome package with the administrator/educational leader in mind—while remaining true to Portland’s roots and culture. The message “Leaders listen with heart”was brought to life through a gift that these prospective students could use along their journey through this rigorous online program—customized earbuds. We used a brushed tin canister with a raised product deck insert to inlay the earbuds into the shape of a heart. Attached to the tin lid, we opted for an accordion dropout so the messaging would immediately be seen and read in a natural organic progression.
The design treatment throughout used hearts to create pattern, subtly nodding to theme while still keeping the high-end, more mature look and feel appropriate for EdD candidates. The tin was placed in a small heavy-stock corrugated box with crinkle-cut craft paper shavings—again, weaving the feel of Concordia Portland’s campus into the packaging and creating a cohesive design with the MEd welcome kit.
